Just like companies that are divided into different departments, the SAP business processes supporting these departments are grouped under the so called modules.
Such modules are:
- FI (Finance)
- CO (Controlling)
- SD (Sales and Distribution)
- MM (Materials Management)
- HR (Human Resources)
- PP (Production Planning)
- WM (Warehouse Management)
There are also several newer modules, partially replacing the above:
- APO (Advanced Planning and Optimization) – PP
- EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) – WM
- HCM (Human Capital Management) – HR
Also several industry-specific modules exist, such as the IS-U for utilities or RE-FX for real-estate management.
